1. Where are the nearest shops?

Rogart Post Office & General Stores comes highly recommended; Situated a couple of miles away in Pittentrail village, they are even able to deliver groceries to your Lodge. Contact: 01408 641 200. There is also a Mace, Pharmacy & Bank in Lairg and John Grant & Sons in Dornoch too.

 

2. Is there a supermarket near by?

Yes - Several and very well stocked; There are Co-Op stores at Golspie, Brora and Tain. Also a Morrisons and Lidl in Alness.

       

Activities

 

1. Is there any local bird life?

Lots and lots! We are actively encouraging wild birds with lots of feeders around the lodges and a supply of nuts for you to use.

 

2. What golf facilities are available and how much do they cost?

There is a wealth of golf in the area, from the Championship course at Dornoch to others at Brora, Golspie, Bonar Bridge, Invergordon, Alness, Tain & Tarbat, all within an easy drive.

The local Tourist Information Offices will be pleased to advise on this and other activities, including fishing, hill walking, archaeology and heritage sites.

Facilities

 

1. How do we pay for electricity?

Included in the weekly hire charge.

 

2. What type of heating is in the lodges?

Oil-filled radiators in each of the bedrooms and Lounge. There is also a convector heater in the Hall and a real-flame effect electric fire in the Lounge. Most are thermostatically controlled. Electricity is included in the weekly hire charge.

 

3. Do you provide washing up liquid etc ?

We provide a 'starter pack' of washing up liquid, soap, tea towels, oven gloves, toilet rolls/cleaner, tea and coffee, and dishwasher liquid. All these are in your Lodge ready for your arrival.

 

4. Is there parking for cars adjacent to the lodge?

There is ample parking facilities within the vicinity of the Lodges;

For Glen Fleet there is a small bay, adequate for an average family car, by the gate at the entrance to the Lodge; Additional parking is a short walk away by the layby at the cattle grid;

For Glen Oykel, a short walk across the footbridge at the rear of that property, from where this larger parking bay is accessed but via a small slope.

   

5. Is there a television in the lodge?

There is a colour television provided in each lodge offering Sky free-to-air Freeview channels and digital radio, with a DVD player and video recorder (with blank tapes).

 

6. Is there a video recorder?

Yes, with blank video tapes in the bookcase.

 

7. Is there a hi-fi unit?

Yes, a small portable unit with CD player, radio and tape deck; However we find most guests use the digital radio from Sky and the DVD player as a CD player; [There is a small set of stereo home cinema speakers attached to those units for your use]

 

8. Is there a washing machine?

Yes - A new washer/dryer unit has recently been installed in each of the Lodges.

 

9. Is there drying facilities?

Apart from the washer/dryer, each Lodge has an airer unit in the cupboard in the Hall.

 

10. Is there a microwave?

Yes - in both Lodges

 

11. Is there a dishwasher?

Yes - in both Lodges, with a supply of dishwasher powder, rinse aid and salt.

                 12. Are cots provided in the lodges?

                  Yes - by prior arrangement with Hoseasons, as are high

                  chairs.
